OFFICE OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMS REVIEW
The Office of Academic Programs oversees Academic Program Review, whose purpose is largely to enhance program quality. With a similar purpose in mind, the Office in 2005 initiated a review of its own mission and functions. A series of focus groups with faculty, staff, and administrators led to an initial report prepared by Sue Elrod, Ph.D. (Associate Professor of Biological Sciences and Special Assistant to the Provost), to which the Vice Provost added a response. The focus group report with responses, together with other materials, was then supplied to a team of external reviewers comprising Elhami Ibrahim, Ph.D. (Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Former Associate Vice President for Academic Programs, Cal Poly, Pomona) and Linda Buckley, Ph.D. (Associate Vice President for Academic Planning and Educational Effectiveness, San Francisco State University). Following an on-site visit at which they interviewed key constituencies, the external reviewers submitted their final report in July 2006. An action plan based on the reviewers' findings and recommendations is now in preparation.
