Business

  1. Qualtrix results - Scorers are still working on speech anaylsis/results. Reminders have been sent out to complete by Sunday,  3/12/17.  They should be finished by the end of this week 3/17/17.  33 speeches per faculty, approximately 100 total.
  2. AAC meeting comments on OC assessment - concerns with scoring instrument, concern with colleges missing, only four colleges represented.  AAC talked about other methods of assessment, but OCLC explained that the current sampling is accessable. Suggestion to parse out the data, attached to students, comparing transfer students to native students.
  3. Lower-division oral communication students were identified.  We  can now  look at specific data  for  students.   We will make a request to Institutional Research.
  4. GE/upper-level comparison for Oral Communication students in this assessment. Next phase assessment could possibly be with small groups, use rubric for group work.  (Possible SCOM 102 - group speeches in 2018) Consultants could adopt consensus for scoring. Not as complicated.  We have the original six consultants that we could use.  We  could use the coders with different colleges. (Spring quarter) Architectural Engineering - competitions potential
  5. Existing artifacts Engineering and Business have that. Individual student with client example.  Audience and student are interacting.  Different to score.
Computer Engineering?  Architectural Engineering - competitions potential

Friday De-brief Session

What needs to occur?  Respondant criteria - 6/12 respondants that found artifacts. Experience with public speaking, experience with SCOM 101, previous assessment experience.  Who responded first?  There are back ups to choose from.  Do we want the six that will appear on Friday.  Will we get artifacts from OCOB?  We should review discrepencies in scoring. Should we move the meeting?   Cancel Friday 3/17 meeting.  Reschedule for finals week with six consultants and Jack, Richard, Bethany.
